Live in Concert: Louisa Stancioff with Will Orchard & Jess Kerber

  • Wanderwood 79 Sidelinger Road Nobleboro, ME 04555 USA (map)

Join us for a summer evening of emotionally rich music featuring three standout voices in the indie-folk scene: Louisa Stancioff, Will Orchard, and Jess Kerber. Nestled in Wanderwood’s comfortable event barn, we invite you to take in the kind of music that lingers—honest, haunting, and alive.

Louisa Stancioff, a Maine native, brings her folk-rock band and her cinematic songwriting back home. Her sound blends American roots with echoes of her Bulgarian heritage, weaving sharp lyricism and infectious melodies into something uniquely her own. Fresh off the release of her debut LP When We Were Looking, Stancioff’s songs speak to longing, forgiveness, and the winding roads that lead us back to our true selves.

Will Orchard, a Nashville-by-way-of-New-England troubadour, delivers indie-folk music that Glide Magazine deemed “Hush Folk Luminosity.” He will perform with his partner and fellow songwriter Jess Kerber, also of Nashville. Kerber and Orchard met during their time at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, and continue to collaborate, most recently working together on Kerber’s new album From Way Down Here (to be released June 20!) and Orchard’s newest LP.

This show is a collaboration between Wanderwood and James McLaughlin, owner of 33 By Hand, a Portland-based studio and gallery known for its craftsmanship, creativity, and deep connection to Maine’s landscape and culture. As a former recording and mixing studio engineer, lifelong DJ (“Jams Frrever”), and artist, McLaughlin is inspired by musicians and apparel that lives at home in the woods and the city streets.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. in the Wanderwood event barn. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. Get your tickets before July 1 and pay $25; price increases to $35 on July 1! All sales are final.

Louisa Stancioff

Louisa Stancioff was born and raised in rural western Maine. She has emerged as a gifted writer with a cinematic eye for richly detailed, emotionally-charged character studies that grapple with the complexities of loneliness and desire, guilt and forgiveness. A nomadic soul who spent stints living in California, Montana, New York, and North Carolina before returning home to Maine, Stancioff grew up learning traditional Balkan music from her paternal grandfather’s side of the family and reveled in singing American folk and roots tunes with her friends. Backed by her folk rock band, her intelligent and soulful writing pairs with a confident and catchy indie sound drawing on folk, rock, pop, and her own Bulgarian heritage. Louisa has toured extensively, playing shows with Blitzen Trapper, The Dead Tongues, Indigo De Souza, Darlingside, Micaela Davis, Pokey Lafarge and many more. Her debut album When We Were Looking is out now. Check out the Official Press Release. Louisa and her bandmates all currently live in Midcoast Maine.

Will Orchard

Will Orchard is a Nashville-via-New England based indie-folk artist. He has made a name for himself as both a deeply emotive and disarming songwriter, and a relentless DIY troubadour. His music has taken him on tour around the US and Europe more times than he can count, with his partner & fellow songwriter Jess Kerber. His records have been described as “Hush Folk Luminosity” by Glide Magazine, and “Damn Good Music” by PopNews. In 2025, he looks ahead to an LP release and an abundance of tour dates.

Jess Kerber

Jess Kerber, of Nashville, first picked up a guitar at the age of 12, and her precocious drive to experiment with different tunings and picking styles – influenced by kindred spirits like Joni Mitchell and Susan Tedeschi – led to the development of a unique sonic palette and authentic, personal approach to songwriting. Inspired equally by her upbringing in Louisiana and her studies at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, her compositions highlight the dynamism and depth of her gorgeous voice and thoughtful, humanistic lyrics, as well as the refined intricacy of her guitar playing.

While performing in and around Boston and Cambridge, Kerber encountered fellow songwriter Will Orchard, who quickly became a partner and collaborator. Working together on debut album From Way Down Here, Orchard’s production prowess, intuition, and multi-instrumental talents helped push Kerber’s beautiful compositions to a new level of fullness, while retaining the disarming purity of the core elements. Kerber’s rich, emotive tenor and accomplished writing radiate a profound warmth, while varying arrangements of pedal steel, Wurlitzer, drums, and ambient guitar create the surrounding sparkle. The influence of her musician parents – along with a certain nostalgia for what she lovingly calls the “way apart from the rest of the world feeling” of the Deep South – shines through in the honest, straightforward, and timeless qualities of her composition.

As a former recording and mixing studio engineer, lifelong DJ, and artist, James built 33 By Hand on all of those inspirations. Rugged, luxury leather and canvas goods speak to the attention to detail and commitment to quality gained from growing up in Maine's rugged lifestyle, and apparel that lives at home in the woods and on the streets draws from influences gained living in Los Angeles, Vancouver & Boston.
